Do pallet racks need to be anchored to the floor?

Yes. Under ANSI/RMI MH16.1 and most international building codes, every rack column must be anchored to the concrete slab. Anchoring prevents shifting during loading, resists seismic forces and helps preserve structural integrity after forklift impact. Anchor diameter and embedment depth should be specified by an engineer based on slab thickness and seismic zone.

How is the load capacity of pallet racking calculated?
